A team that began a run of dominance in men’s basketball at Oregon Tech, the 1997-98 team earned an at-large bid to the NAIA Division II national tournament in Nampa, Idaho and caught fire, toppling Walsh (Ohio), William Jewell (Mo.) and Lewis & Clark (Ore.), before stopping host Northwest Nazarene, 82-75, to reach the title game. In the title game, a 3-point shot at the buzzer went in, giving Bethel (Ind.) the 89-87 win. Tech won 16 of their final 18 games of the season prior to the national title game.
· Three players earned All-Tournament Team honors at Nationals - Kevin Carlston, Saif Abdur-Rahman, Bob Townsend.
· Kevin Carlston selected as honorable mention All-America, earning All-Cascade Conference and All-Little NW honors.
· Saif Abdur-Rahman named CCC Newcomer of the Year.
· Matt Foster selected to All-Cascade Conference team.
