The greatest football team in Oregon Tech history, the 1988 Owls were an offensive juggernaut, racking up a staggering 493 yards per game, winning the Columbia Football Association’s Mount Hood League division title and advancing to the NAIA Division II national semifinals
 
· Stunned 1987 national champ, Pacific Lutheran, 56-35 in the first-round of the playoffs, before winning a come-from-behind 70-35 decision at Carroll College
· Six players earned All-America honors, including first-team pick Billy Coats (1,647 rush yards, 16 TD) and second-team pick Matt Dierdorff (106 tackles and 11 INT)...quarterback Don Trotter passed for 3,323 yards and 23 TD, with linebacker Ross Simmons recording 20 sacks
