Lady Owls Have Big Outdoor Season Opening Day at OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech hit Cascade Conference qualifying marks in four different events, as the women's track team opened the outdoor season on Day 1 of the PNW Invite at the Whyte Track & Field Center.

Athletes recorded program Top-5 marks in two events, combining for nine CCC meet standards on the day.

Three throwers hit the CCC mark in the discus – including a big throw from Caitlyn Horrell, who posted a heave of 38.79 meters (127 feet, 3 inches), the No. 3 mark in OIT history. Both Aurora Atwood (36.84 / 120-10) and Amina Redfield (33.40 / 109-7) also punch their ticket to the league championships.

Under the lights, Saundra Parsons flirted with the NAIA provisional qualifying standard, with her sixth-place effort of 11:29.37 finishing 10 seconds shy of the national mark – but well within the CCC cut. Teammates Charis Childers (11:44.69) and Corinne Childers (12:11.16) both hit the CCC standard.

Early in the meet, the sprint duo of McKenna Donovan (25.69) and Sydney Soskis (26.17) hit the league cut in the 200-meters, as did Maevri Bergerson 10.26 / 33-8) in the triple jump.
