ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Making her NAIA Track & Field National Championship debut, Oregon Tech senior Sydney Soskis placed 19th overall in the long jump on Day 1 of the event at Karl Straus Track.

Soskis had her best mark on her third and final attempt, posting a distance of 5.45 meters (17 feet, 10 1/2 inches). To reach the finals, athletes had to post a mark of 5.70 meters.

Soskis became the first OIT women's athlete to compete in the long jump since Heather Werth in 2000.

The Lady Owls close out the meet tomorrow, as Amina Redfield competes in the javelin.
