Redfield Earns All-America Honors in Javelin

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Oregon Tech's Amina Redfield became the seventh Lady Owl to earn All-America honors in the javelin, closing out competition at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a third-place finish in the final event of the meet.

The freshman, from Wilsonville, competed in the third of three preliminary flights and punched her ticket to the finals on her first attempt with a mark of 44.42 meters (145 feet, 9 inches).

The throw was the third best in the preliminaries – and stood up after three throws in the finals, giving Redfield the bronze medal. Casey Olson (46.66 meters) earned the title, ahead of Codi Nagle (45.02 meters) of Dickinson State, with Catarina Bell (44.37 meters) of British Columbia, who topped Redfield at the Cascade Conference Championships, taking fourth.

The six points from Redfield helped the Lady Owls finish in a tie for 39th in the meet.

Redfield joins Alex Conley, Aarika Brooks, Joelle Swanson, Michelle Klaja, Sarah Schelb and Kelsey Stoltz as OIT javelin All-Americans.

Also today, Eli Stevens capped his career in the men's pole vault, but failed to clear the opening height of 4.65 meters (15 feet, 3 inches).
