Soskis Breaks Long Jump School Record at OSU

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sydney Soskis set a school record in the long jump and posted the second-fastest 200-meter time in Oregon Tech history, highlighting a big opening day at the Oregon State High Performance Meet at the Whyte Center.

Soskis posted the No. 2 mark in the Cascade Conference with a leap of 5.75 meters (18 feet, 10.5 inches), surpassing the 18-year old record of 5.74 meters set by Amy Sticka in 2008, winning the 28 athlete field. The effort missed the NAIA "B" standard by three centimeters.

The senior followed with a career-best time of 25.44 in the 200-meters – just off the OIT school record.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Lily Everson clocked a personal-best time of 1:06.30, while Saundra Parsons competed in the invitational section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 11:31.93.

On Saturday, the Lady Owls will compete on Day 2 of the OSU meet, with a group also racing at the Linfield Open.
