LEWISTON, Idaho –
Silas Guzlas shot a second-round 71, vaulting up the leaderboard to 12th-place, as the Oregon Tech men's golf team completed Day 2 of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, at Lewiston Country Club.
The Hustlin' Owls (297-296 – 593) finished their second round a shot better than Monday, but fell to fourth-place, thanks to a quality round by Bushnell (301-291 – 592). Host Lewis-Clark State (288-284 – 572) has a 6-stroke lead on British Columbia (293-285 – 578) heading into tomorrow's final round.
Guzlas (76-71 – 147) had four birdies and three bogeys in his 1-under-par round – including three birdies 3-of-4 Par-5 opportunities. The sophomore sits six shots out of the lead set by LC State's Adam Lovatt (69-72 – 141) and Bushnell's Matt Forsyth (72-69 – 141) at 3-under par, with UBC's Leighton Wright (72-70 – 142) and LC's Andrea Artusini (70-72 – 142) at 2-under.
"Silas played well today," said OIT head coach
Dave Myers. "We are looking forward to posting a good effort tomorrow in hopes of climbing back up the leaderboard."
Jack Tieman (72-76 – 148) and
Grayson Moore (72-76 – 148) are tied for 16th, with
Cayson VanBeekum (77-76 – 153) and
Issey Tanimura (80-73 – 153) both 25th.
The final round is set to begin with tee times at 8 a.m. – with the leaders starting their round at 10:20 a.m.
