Silas Guzlas remains in striking distance after 36 holes, as the Oregon Tech men's golf team completed Day 1 of the Warner Pacific Invitational at Glendoveer Golf Club.
The Hustlin Owls (301-300 – 601) sit in sixth-place overall – just 18 strokes behind team leader British Columbia (288-295 – 583). Lewis-Clark State (293-293 – 586) and Bushnell (291-301 – 592) are in second and third.
Guzlas (75-74 – 149) paired 2-over and 1-over-par rounds on the Par-73 track, sitting in a 6-way tie for 11th. The sophomore is six strokes behind individual leader, Luke West (70-73 – 143) of LC State, one of six golfers who remain under-par for the tournament.
Jack Tieman (73-77 – 150) is in a tie for 18th, with three players –
Cayson VanBeekum (75-76 – 151),
Grayson Moore (77-74 – 151) and Issey Tanimua (78-73 – 151) each in a logjam in 20th-place – with Tanimura's even-par second round the top round of the day for an OIT player.
Kade Bracken (78-80 – 158) rounded out the Tech players, sitting in 42nd-place after 36 holes.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
