LEWISTON, Idaho – Even-par rounds from
Grayson Moore and
Jack Tieman keyed a quality opening day for the Oregon Tech men's golf team at the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, as the Hustlin' Owls sit alone in third place after 18 holes at Lewiston Country Club.
Tech carded a team round of 297 (9-over-par), sitting nine strokes off the lead of host Lewis-Clark State (288) and four shots behind British Columbia (293). The Owls sit three shots clear of Corban (300) and four shots ahead of Bushnell (301).
Moore birdied three of his final four holes to finish with a 72 – his sixth even-par or better round of the season – sharing fifth-place with his teammate Tieman, who posted two birdies and two bogeys in his even-par round.
The OIT duo is chasing leader Adam Lovatt of Lewis-Clark State who posted a 3-under-par 69, one shot ahead of fellow LC player, Andrea Artisini (70), with College of Idaho's Carson King (71) and Warner Pacific's Aiden Fay (71) two shots back.
Silas Guzlas is tied for 20th after a 4-over-par 76, while
Cayson VanBeekum withstood a tough start to shoot 77 – finishing his final 16 holes at even-par.
Issey Tanimura completed the Tech five-some with an 80.
Round 2 of the 54-hole tournament begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
