ASHLAND, Ore. –
Sydney Soskis recorded the fifth-best long jump in Oregon Tech history, one of four wins by Lady Owls on Day 2 of the Raider Invitational at Raider Stadium.
In addition,
Saundra Parsons clocked the second-fastest 10,000-meter time in school history, competing in Portland at the Larry Byerly Classic.
Soskis recorded a leap of 5.52 meters (18 feet, 1 ½ inches) in her final attempt to win the event – posting the No. 3 mark in the Cascade Conference this season.
McKenna Donovan finished right behind Soskis, posting a season-best jump of 5.45 meters (17-10 ¾).
The duo also raced in the 100-meters, with Donovan clocking a time of 12.35 seconds – a season-best – with Soskis finishing in 12.60 seconds. Both were also a part of Tech's 4x100-meter relay team that posted a season-best time of 49.07 seconds.
Parsons raced in the competitive 10,000-meters in the Rose City, placing third overall with a time of 37:41.99 – narrowly missing the NAIA qualifying standard – but recording the fastest OIT time since 2019.
At SOU, Tech made an impressive showing in the throws.
Kalina Saechao won the shot put (12.20 / 40-0 ½) and took second in the hammer throw (42.97 / 140-11) – both season bests.
Amina Redfield won the javelin (40.13 / 131-8), while
Caitlyn Horrell hit the CCC mark in the hammer (40.42 / 132-7).
On the track,
Lily Everson won the 400-meter hurdles, recording a career-best time of 1:06.32, with
Ava Blatchford recording a personal best 800-meter time of 2:27.87.
The Lady Owls will compete next weekend at the Corban Invite – the final tune-up for the CCC Championships.
