MORGAN HILL, Calif. – Oregon Tech opened the men's golf spring season with a seventh-place finish at the RCA Electric Invitational, hosted by Menlo College, at Coyote Creek Golf Club.
The Owls finished with a 54-hole team score of 964 (325-322-317), improving their total in each of the three rounds. Host Menlo (301-303-298 – 902) claimed the title, nine shots ahead of Westminster (308-302-301 – 911).
Cayson VanBeekum (75-81-77 – 233) led Tech, placing 17th overall, 16 strokes behind medalist Fernando Jiminez of Westmont.
"There were too many big numbers out on the course for us the last two days," said head coach
Dave Myers. "We really need to work on our short game so we be better at the Simpson Invite."
