LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women's 4x400-meter team set a new school record, finishing less than a second off the NAIA national qualifying standard on Day 1 of the EOU Last Chance Meet at the Eastern Oregon Fieldhouse.
The team of
Sydney Soskis,
Ava Blatchford,
McKenna Donovan and
Tiffany Humpherys destroyed the previous school record by 12 seconds, with the time of 3:57.82 – just 82-hundredths of a second off the NAIA provisional standard.
In addition,
Kalina Saechao rebroke the weight throw school record, placing third with a mark of 15.05 meters (49 feet, 5 inches).
The Lady Owls had one individual winner, as
Maevri Bergerson won the triple jump (10.65 / 34-11 ½), while four others competed in the weight throw –
Caitlyn Horrell (14.10 / 46-3 ½),
Amina Redfield (11.43 / 37-6),
Alee Eason (10.23 / 33-6 ¾) and
Emily Bitler (10.17 / 33-4 ½).
Three athletes competed in the pentathlon, with
Madi Perkins leading the group with 2,314 points, followed by
Lily Everson (2,278) and
Kate Miles (1,618). Everson had the top 60-meter hurdle (10.34) and high jump (1.33 m) marks, Miles had Tech's best shot put (8.74 m), with Perkins leading the group in the long jump (4.57 m) and 800-meters (2:40.02).
