CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon Tech's
Kalina Saechao made the most of her first-ever collegiate meet, breaking a school record and earning McDonald's-Urban Edge Network Cascade Conference Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office.
The true freshman, from Turner, set a new OIT mark in the weight throw at the Nevada Invite, launching an attempt 14.35 meters (47 feet, 1 inch), while also recording a shot put mark of 11.51 meters (37 feet, 9 1/2 inches).
The weight throw mark leads all Cascade Conference competitors so far in the 2026 season.
Tech will have the next two weeks off, preparing for the Corban Indoor/Outdoor Meet.
