ASHLAND, Ore. –
Aurora Parsons became Oregon Tech's first-ever Cascade Conference discus champion, adding an NAIA "B" standard in the javelin, leading the Lady Owls to a fourth-place team finish at the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, at Raider Stadium.
OIT received points from six athletes and a relay team on Day 2 of the event, finishing the meet with 71 points – the best team finish since placing fourth in 2017.
Parsons became the first Lady Owls competitor to earn All-CCC honors in three field events since Michelle Klaja in 2005 – winning the discus, taking second in the shot put and placing third in the javelin. The junior unleashed a school record mark of 42.42 meters (139 feet, 2 inches) to win the discus, launched a season-best mark of 12.98 meters (42-7) in the shot, while hitting the NAIA provisional standard in the javelin (41.11 m / 134-10).
Also earning All-CCC honors was freshman
Sophia Small, who placed second in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 11.11 meters (36-5 ½), while also scoring a point with an eighth-place effort in the high jump (1.49 m / 4-10 ½).
Two others scored in the throws, as
Ciena Gregory was sixth (38.05 m / 124-10) and
Emily Bitler was eighth (36.51 m / 119-9) in the discus.
Jozie Ramos competed in the shot put, placing 11th (10.34 m / 33-11 ¼).
On the track,
McKenna Donovan scored points in both sprints – placing seventh in the 200-meters (25.67) and eighth in the 100-meters, with a personal best time of 12.38 seconds.
Sydney Soskis took sixth in the 200-meters (25.53) and 17th in the 100-meters (12.57), with
Lily Everson placing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.25).
The 4x400-meter relay capped the meet with a fifth-place finish (4:04.20), while
Charis Childers took 11th in the 5,000-meters (19:08.44).
