EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Low scores were the story on Day 1 of the Southern Oregon Classic at Stone Ridge Golf Course, as the Oregon Tech men sit in fourth-place heading into tomorrow's final round.
The Hustlin' Owls (298-301 – 599) sit at 23-over-par after 36 holes, one stroke ahead of Bushnell (305-295 – 600) following the wet opening day. LC State (286-278 – 564) holds the lead at 12-under-par, five shots ahead of British Columbia (287-282 – 569), with host Southern Oregon (288-283 – 573) in third.
LC State's Alex Navarro (69-66 – 135) holds the 36-hole lead at 9-under-par, one of nine players in the 52-player field currently under par.
Tyler Vassar (73-76 – 149) leads the Hustlin' Owls, sitting in a tie for 21st-place at 5-over-par, with
Silas Guzlas (76-74 – 150) and
Issey Tanimura (77-73 – 150) both a shot behind him in 25th-place.
Jack Tieman (72-79 – 151),
Kade Bracken (79-78 – 157) and
Tyce Helmick (78-81 – 159) rounded out the OIT players.
The final round is set for a Tuesday shotgun start at 8 a.m.
