KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Freshman
Madi Perkins sits in ninth place in the heptathlon after Day 1, as Oregon Tech played host to the Cascade Conference Multi-Event Championships at Moehl Stadium.
Perkins finished the first four events with 1,469 points – on pace to finish with a personal best score.
Southern Oregon All-America Abi Stevens holds the event lead with 2,981 points after wins in the 100-meter hurdles, shot put and 200-meters. Adrienne Washington of Eastern Oregon is second (2,798), with British Columbia's Sarah Pamblett is third (2,590) after a win in the high jump.
Perkins opened the day with a time of 20.36 in the 100-meter hurdles, set a personal best clearance of 1.24 meters in the high jump, threw the shot put 7.78 meters, before ending the day with a time of 30.30 seconds in the 200-meters.
Day 2 of the heptathlon begins tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. with the long jump, followed by the javelin and 800-meters.
