REDDING, Calif. –
Issey Tanimura and
Silas Guzlas each carded 1-over-par 73s, helping Oregon Tech crack the 300-stroke mark for the second time this season, as the Hustlin' Owls sit in third-place after Day 1 of the Simpson Spring Invite at Riverview Golf & Country Club.
Tech posted a team score of 295 – nine strokes off the overall lead set by Southwestern Oregon CC (286) and five strokes behind second-place Corban (290). The Owls are just ahead of league rivals Bushnell (297) and Southern Oregon (298).
Both Tanimura and Guzlas are tied for tenth in the 53-player field, with teammate
Tyler Vassar (74) in 16th and
Kade Bracken (75) in 19th.
Three other OIT players were in action – as
Jack Tieman carded a 74,
Tyce Helmick posted a 78 and
Kellen Humphries an 85.
