LA GRANDE, Ore. – For the second-straight meet,
McKenna Donovan broke Oregon Tech's indoor 60-meter school record, highlighting the opening day of the Eastern Oregon Last Chance Meet at Banner Bank Track.
Donovan qualified for Saturday's final with a time of 7.95 seconds – becoming the first Lady Owls sprinter to break the 8-second barrier. Teammate
Sydney Soskis also reached the final with her preliminary time of 8.07 seconds.
In the triple jump,
Sophia Small narrowly missed OIT's indoor record, winning the event with a leap of 10.33 meters (33 feet, 10.25 inches).
Ciena Gregory led four OIT athletes in the weight throw, placing third with a mark of 13.44 meters (44 feet, 1.5 inches).
Aurora Parsons (12.79 m / 41-11 ½),
Emily Bitler (11.57 m / 37-11 ½) and
Tarrah Bickford (11.17 m / 36-7 ¾) each improved their seasonal marks.
Madi Perkins completed her first pentathlon, recording 1,742 points – recording times of 10.97 in the 60-meter hurdles and 2:53.30 in the 800-meters. In the field events, Perkins threw the shot put 7.85 meters (25-9 ¼) and recorded a long jump of 4.31 meters (14-1 ¾), but failed to clear the opening height in the high jump.
Tech closes out competition on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
