VanBeekum and Tieman Lead OIT on Day 1 in Arizona

BUCKEYE, Ariz. – Both Cayson VanBeekum and Jack Tieman carded rounds under-par, as Oregon Tech closed Day 1 of the Firestorm Fall Invitational in third-place overall at Verrado Golf Club.

The Hustlin' Owls were one of three teams under-par, carding a 3-under 285 – trailing only Texas Wesleyan (278) and Ottawa (284) in the 16-team field.

VanBeekum had the lead for much of the opening round, finishing with a 6-under-par 66 – one stroke behind TWU's Brady Meek, who shot a 30 on the back-nine to grab the lead.

Tieman shot a 2-under-par 70, rallying from a slow start to shoot 5-under over his final 10 holes.

Issey Tanimura (74) and Silas Guzlas (75) rounded out the scoring players for Tech.
