KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Hosting their lone tournament in the Basin, the Oregon Tech men's golf team sits 14 strokes out of the lead after Day 1 of the Run-In at the Ranch on the Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Running Y Resort.
The Hustlin' Owls finished the day at 18-over-par (306), ending the afternoon in fifth-place. Southern Oregon (292) is the leader in the clubhouse, three shots clear of Menlo (295), 11 shots ahead of Lewis & Clark (303), with Bushnell (305) one stroke ahead of Tech.
Ethan Miller paced SOU with an opening round 4-under-par 68, two shots ahead of Simpson's Troy Alwert (70). Both Emmett Shell (71) of Menlo and Ben Lovrod (72) of Bushnell finished Day 1 at par or better.
OIT had two players in the Top-10 of the 51-player field – as
Kade Bracken (playing as an individual) carded a 2-over-par 74, sitting in sixth-place, with
Issey Tanimura finishing the first 18 holes at 3-over-par 75, ending the day in a 6-way tie for ninth-place.
Both
Silas Guzlas and
Tyler Vassar finished the opening round with 76's,
Jack Tieman shot a 77, both
Kellen Humphries and
Tyce Helmick carded 78's, with
Carter Borror ending Day 1 with a 91.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
