PERU, Ind. –
Tyler Vassar shot an opening round 74, sitting one shot off the lead, as Oregon Tech completed Day 1 of the Rumble at the Rock, hosted by Bethel University, at Rock Hollow Golf Club.
Vassar had four birdies on the day, carding a 2-under-par 34 on the back nine – trailing Bethel golfers Earl Williams and Nicolas Sabogal.
The Hustlin' Owls head into tomorrow's final round in fourth place after shooting a 311 – chasing Crossroads League squads Bethel (300), Indiana Wesleyan (307) and Grace (309).

Silas Guzlas sits in seventh-place after a first-round 76, with
Jack Tieman (80),
Kade Bracken (81) and
Kellen Humphries (88) rounding out the OIT players.
"I was really pleased with the way Tyler responded today and was happy with the play of Silas," said OIT coach
Jeff Corkill. "The guys are ready to move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
The final round is set for a shotgun start at 6 a.m. (PDT) on Saturday morning.
