SPRINGFIELD, Ore. –
Tyler Vassar climbed six spots in today's final round of the Bushnell Fall Classic, carding a 1-over-par 73 to place fourth overall, headlining Oregon Tech in the season-opening Cascade Conference Tournament.
The Hustlin' Owls shot a final round 303, finishing the tournament in fourth-place (914 – 302-309-303) – dropping two spots in the final standings after a incorrect signed scorecard in Round 2 changed the team total from 296 to 309.
Vassar (75-73-73 – 221) capped a consistent tournament with his second-straight 73, with transfer
Jack Tieman (77-72-77 – 226) recording a Top-10 finish in his OIT debut. Closing out the Owls scoring quartet were
Kade Bracken (75-83-79 – 237) and
Kellen Humphries (83-81-79 – 243).
British Columbia (285-283-296 – 864) dominated the tournament, with the T-Birds Aidan Schumer (71-68-72 – 211) earning medalist honors, one shot clear of teammate Dylan MacDonald (74-69-69 – 212). The UBC duo were tied through the 16th hole, before a bogey on 17 by MacDonald gave Schumer the lead.
Lewis-Clark State (297-301-296 – 894) placed second, with Bushnell (304-302-302 – 908) leapfrogging OIT into third.
Tech will have next week off in preparation for the Rumble at the Rock, hosted by Bethel University in Peru, Ind.
