LA GRANDE, Ore. – Oregon Tech's
Ally Odell capped a big day at the Cascade Conference Multi-Event championships with a personal best time in the 800-meters, taking fourth overall in the heptathlon at Banner Bank Track.
Odell improved her national qualifying score in the event by 52 points, with her seven-event tally of 4,480 points a new personal best – sitting in the No. 6 spot among all NAIA competitors.
The senior started the day with a long jump of 4.86 meters (15 feet, 11 ½ inches), while tossing the javelin 33.33 meters (109 feet, 4 inches). Odell capped the day with a third-place effort in the 800-meters, clocking a time of 2:26.63.
NAIA leader, Rebecca Dutchak of UBC won the event with a score of 5,109, ahead of Eastern Oregon's Lizzy Grandle (4,946) and Southern Oregon's Abi Stevens (4,827).
Odell will earn five team points for the Lady Owls at the upcoming CCC Championships, to be hosted at Moehl Stadium, May 10-11.
In addition to the CCC Multi-Meet, OIT athletes will compete later today and tomorrow at the Raider Invitational in Ashland.
