REDDING, Calif. – Oregon Tech opened the spring golf season competing in a match-play duel with Simpson University at Riverview Golf & Country Club.
The host Redhawks won three of the five pairs competing in the match play, while seven total OIT men and six OIT women's players got their first competitive rounds of the 2024 season.
Xavier De La Rosa and
Hunter Eberhardt each earned wins in their match-play challenges – De La Rosa topping Alfonso Del Pino 4-and-3, with Eberhardt defeating Ryan Gavin 4-and-2.
Eberhardt had the top round for the Hustlin' Owls, carding a 73, with De La Rosa and
Kade Bracken each shooting 77s.
For the Lady Owls, Quincy Beyrouty led the way with a 77, one stroke ahead of Navy Wood (78).
Both teams will be back in Redding a week from Monday for the Simpson Spring Invitational.
