Odell Wins Pentathlon at EOU Last Chance Meet

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Ally Odell put herself firmly in position to qualify for the NAIA Indoor National Championships, recording three personal best marks in winning the pentathlon at the Eastern Oregon Last Chance Meet.
 
Odell finished with a personal best score of 3,220 points – nearly 100 points ahead of her previous best effort – elevating to No. 12 in the NAIA national event ratings. The Top-16 scores earn automatic bids to the NAIA National Championships in Brookings, S.D.
 
Odell opened the meet with a personal best mark of 9.34 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, while clearing 1.52 meters (4 feet 11 3/4 inches) in the high jump, recording a mark of 10.77 meters (35 feet, 4 inches) in the shot put, while leaping 5.18 meters (17 feet, 0 inches) – a new PR in the long jump. She capped the day with a time of 2:42.31 in the 800-meters.
 
Also today, freshman Bud Patzke competed in the heptathlon – sitting in third with a 4-event score of 2,199 points. Patzke clocked a time of 7.77 seconds in the 60-meters, recorded a 5.58 meter (18 feet, 3 3/4 inch) long jump, a 8.91 meter (29 feet, 2 3/4 inch) shot put, while clearing 1.83 meters (6 feet) in the high jump.
 
Patzke, along with the rest of the OIT team, will compete tomorrow in Day 2 of the meet.
