SOLVANG, Calif. – Oregon Tech shaved four strokes off their Day 1 score, as the Hustlin' Owls placed third overall at the Danish Classic, hosted by The Master's, at Alisal Ranch.
Tech (308-304 – 612) finished the day at 16-over-par, just four shots behind second-place Hope International (306-302 – 608) and two strokes ahead of Cascade Conference rival Bushnell (305-309 -614). Host TMU (286-278 – 564) dominated the field, finishing at 12-under-par for the 36-hole tournament.
Both
Tyler Vassar (74-75 – 149) and
Jack Tieman (75-74 – 149) tied for 12th-place,
Kade Bracken (79-78 – 157) and
Silas Guzlas (80-77 – 157) tied for 24th-place, with
Issey Tanimura (80-80 – 160) and
Kellen Humphries (83-77 – 160) shared 28th-place.
Jonathan Larson (68-69 – 137) of TMU earned medalist honors at 7-under-par, ahead of teammate Jacob Janho (72-67 – 139).
OIT will take next week off in preparation for the UBC Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
