Jack Tieman shot a 1-under-par 71 in his second round of the day, helping Oregon Tech climb to sixth place after Day 1 of the British Columbia Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
The Hustlin' Owls finished the day at 33-over-par (308-301 – 609), fourth among Cascade Conference teams. Host UBC (282-281 – 563) finished the day at 13-under-par, four strokes ahead of Ottawa (Ariz.) (285-282 – 567), with the University of Victoria (296-281 – 577) in third.
Tieman (76-71 – 147) carded his second under-par round of the season on the Olympic Course, finishing the day in 14th-place in the 67-player field. The transfer is chasing Dylan Macdonald (68-67 – 135) of UBC, who ended Day 1 at 9-under-par, three shots ahead of OUAZ's Gustav Sandstrom (69-69 – 138) and UBC's Aiden Schumer (67-71 – 138).
Issey Tanimura (74-75 – 149) ended the opening day in 19th-place, with
Tyler Vassar (81-75 – 156) sitting in 33rd after 36 holes.
Kade Bracken (77-83 – 160) and
Tyce Helmick (89-80 – 169) rounded out the OIT players.
Round 3 of the tournament begins Tuesday morning with a shotgun start.
