EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Both Oregon Tech golf teams competed today at The Resort at Eagle Point, facing off against Southern Oregon and Simpson University at the SOU Match Play.
MEN:
Hunter Eberhardt,
Issey Tanimura and
Mason Snider picked up a pair of victories to pace Tech – as OIT defeated Simpson, 5-2, with SOU earning a 5.5-3.5 win over the Owls.
Eberhardt claimed wins in the fourth flight, defeating the Redhawks Josh Hein, 1-up, while topping the Raiders Oliver Ausland 2-and-1. Tanimura defeated SOU's Max Woolf 8-and-6 and Simpson's Ryan Gavin 3-and-2, earning full points in both matches. Snider picked up a pair of 1-up wins over Southern's Preston Brandt and Simpson's Alfonso Del Pino.
Tech got wins by
Kade Bracken (1-up) and
Tyce Helmick (5-and-4) in the Simpson match, with
Kellen Humphries earning a half point by halving his match with SOU's Cruz Kilborn.
WOMEN: Oregon Tech golfers won 6-of-7 matches on the day, as the Lady Owls earned team victories over Southern Oregon and Simpson.
OIT picked up a 4-1 win over the rival Raiders, while sweeping both matches against the Redhawks.
Madie Hepner won the opening match, topping Keira Cheng of SOU, 3-and-1, with the trio of
Quincy Beyrouty,
Caroline Valle and
Navy Wood closing out the win with victories. Beyrouty defeated Carley Streitler, 8-and-6, Valle defeated Camryn Schaper, 4-and-3, with Wood stopping Bryn Lawson, 2-up.
Against Simpson, Tech dominated – as
Caitlin Lien picked up a 5-and-4 victory over Brie Memeo and
Brittney Barrington stopped Ruthie Bowen, 6-and-5.
Both teams close out the fall season next week at the PCH Invitational in Carmel, Calif.
