MARYSVILLE, Calif. – The Oregon Tech men's golf team rebounded in the final round of the Chico State Wildcat Classic, shooting 1-under-par as a squad jumping up the leaderboard at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club as the top NAIA team in the field.
The Hustlin' Owls (294-291-287 – 872) moved ahead of Southern Oregon (292-292-296 – 880) and Division II Vanguard (292-290-300 – 882) to place ninth in a field filled with NCAA competition.
Freshman
Massimo Cereghino (74-73-69 – 216) shot a bogey-free 3-under par 69 in his final round to vault into 35th-place, while junior
Silas Guzlas (71-73-71 – 215) placed 28th, recording birdies on four of his final six holes to shoot a 1-under-par 71, equaling his final 54-hole score.
Kade Bracken (74-72-74 – 220),
Eastyn Ewell (75-73-73 – 221) and
Colin Field (80-75-76 – 231) rounded out the OIT competitors.
Vineet Vallamsetty (68-65-69 – 202) earned medalist honors at 14-under-par, one of 34 players to finish the event under par.
The Hustlin' Owls will have two weeks of practice prior to their next action, Oct. 5-6, at the RCA Electric Invitational in Monterey, Calif.
