2025 Women's Soccer Notebook (Week 7)

COMING UP: vs. Providence, Friday, 12 p.m.

COMPLETE WEEKLY MEDIA NOTEBOOK

GAME DAY INFORMATION: Friday's match will be streamed live on the Owls Sports Network, with Mike Safford on the call – with Live Stats of the match available online through OIT's SIDEARM Stats Portal.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – PROVIDENCE: OIT returns home on Friday, hosting an improved University of Providence side that has posted wins in four of their last five matches. The Argos (4-3-2, 4-2 CCC) have a 14-13 edge in goals scored, but opponents hold a 145-91 edge in shot attempts – with UP earning their four wins against the bottom four teams in the CCC Preseason Poll (Walla Walla, Warner Pacific, Evergreen, Corban), with losses coming to Bushnell and Northwest by a combined 5-0 margin. Four returners anchor the attack for first-year head coach Lindsay Smith - forward Kailey Camper (4 goals, 3 assists), midfielders Peyton Schmauch (2 goals, 2 assists) and Brooklyn Poole (2 goals), along with defender Shea Waters (4 assists). Keeper Jennifer Alvillar (1.20 GAA, 59 saves) is among the CCC leaders, saving 87% of shots on frame. The Lady Owls take a 7-match win streak against UP into the contest and hold a 10-1-2 all-time series lead.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW, GAME MOVED FROM GRASS: The Lady Owls were scheduled to play just their second match on grass this season – as the contest at Rocky Mountain was to be played at Wendy's Field in Billings. However, due to a rainstorm on Friday night, the game was moved to the Bears turf field on campus. OIT has not won a match on grass since the 2023 season – a victory at the University of Providence. Only five schools – Rocky, Providence, Walla Walla, Northwest and Evergreen – play games on grass surfaces (though recent matches at NU and TESC were played on turf due to conditions) – with the Lady Owls next chance to end the streak coming up on Halloween at Walla Walla.

PERFECT ON PENALTIES: In the win vs. Carroll, the Lady Owls earned a chance from the penalty spot due to a foul in the box. For the second time this season, Raeah Raymondo converted the attempt – extending a streak of made penalty kicks (minus overtime shoot-outs) to 10, dating back to the Spring 2021 season during a road win at Corban.

TALE OF TWO RED CARDS: Tech was on the wrong side of two red cards in Montana – one given to Carroll on Thursday and one accrued by the Owls on Saturday. In the Carroll match, the Saints were issued the penalty with 35 minutes left in the match – with OIT peppering the net for 10 shots, including five on frame in the second half – but couldn't get the go-ahead goal, settling for a 1-1 draw. Two days later vs. Rocky Mountain, the Owls drew the red card late in the first half and were forced to play a player down the entire second half – valiantly defending seven shots and four corner kicks before a great individual effort by the Bears netted a late goal in the 1-0 loss.

A PIT STOP AT HOME: The Lady Owls are in the midst of a long road stretch, playing away from the Basin in three of four weekends – with that lone break this Friday, hosting Providence. Playing at home has been key for Tech as during the 26 seasons of women's soccer at OIT, the Lady Owls are 118-60-19 in matches played in Klamath Falls. Since the school installed turf at the on-campus venue in 2017, Tech has been nearly unbeatable, recording a 49-6-8 mark, including a 5-0-1 record in 2025.

CLIMBING THE WINS LIST: With the win over Evergreen on Sept. 20, head coach Tom Moore moved into fourth-place on the all-time OIT wins list with his 28th victory. The third-year skipper has a 28-13-7 record with the Owls – four victories away from the No. 3 spot on the all-time list – chasing Bryan Mueller (66), Brandon Porter (43) and Casey Tate (32).

AROUND THE LEAGUE: The top teams separated themselves in the CCC table, as College of Idaho topped Eastern Oregon, 3-1, in a battle of unbeatens, while Southern Oregon remained unbeaten with shutout road wins at Rocky Mountain and Carroll. In addition, Bushnell had a perfect weekend with home victories over Walla Walla and Warner Pacific. This week, Walla Walla travels to Warner Pacific for their travel partner matchup; Providence makes the long journey to OIT and Southern; Northwest and Evergreen head south to Corban and Bushnell; with Eastern and C of I off to Montana for dates at Rocky and Carroll.
