HELENA, Mont. – Aided by a player advantage for the final 35 minutes, Oregon Tech dominated all facets of the final period – but could not find the net – as the Lady Owls and Carroll College played to a 1-1 draw at Nelson Stadium.
An intentional hand ball outside the box in a goal scoring opportunity by keeper Malin Ackerman sent the Saints (3-1-4, 1-1-2 CCC) all-conference player of the field – giving Tech the 11-on-10 edge – with the Lady Owls boasting a 10-2 edge in shots over the final 35 minutes. However, Carroll back-up Allison Olson made five saves, including a pair from point-blank range, to preserve the tie.
Carroll took a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the contest, as Myah Rietze played a 45-yard ball into the middle of the box, with Olivia St. Marie flicking home the one-timer into the right corner of the net.
The Lady Owls (6-2-2, 2-1-1) answered in the 24th minute, as
Sydney Soskis was fouled in the area – drawing a penalty kick.
Raeah Raymondo calmly converted from the spot, tucking the attempt into the right corner of the net for the equalizer.
Tech had chances late to break through – as
Jaylee Curran and
Brynne Cope were stopped by Olson, with the keeper making a stop of a drive by
Naaliyah Robinson in the waning minutes.
OIT finished with a 13-5 edge in shots and a 4-3 lead in corner kicks.
The Owls have Friday off, traveling to Billings for a Saturday morning match-up vs. Rocky Mountain.
