MARION, Ind. – Competing in her final collegiate meet, Oregon Tech multi-event standout
Ally Odell recorded a personal-best Day 1 score in the heptathlon at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at the IWU Track Complex.
The senior scored 2,757 points through the first four events – 75 points more than her previous best – sitting alone in 12th-place in a deep field. Renee Finke of Central Methodist holds the lead with 3,168 points, just ahead of Cascade Conference champ, Rebecca Dutchak of British Columbia (3,157).
Odell opened her day with the best 100-meter hurdle time of her career (15.17) and followed it by clearing 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch) in the high jump. She placed seventh in the shot put (10.96 meters / 35 feet, 11 ½ inches), before ending the day with a time of 27.53 in the 200-meters.
Tomorrow, Odell will start with the long jump, followed by the javelin, ending the competition with the 800-meters.
