KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A victory in the first flight of the 4x400-meter relay highlighted Day 2 for Oregon Tech at the Cascade Conference Women's Track and Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, at Moehl Stadium.
The team of
Lily Everson,
Charis Childers,
Corinne Childers and
Eva Brady fed off a hometown crowd to defeat Bushnell and Corban in a time of 4:08.91. The effort, combined with Flight 2, helped the Lady Owls place sixth in the event.
Overall, OIT scored 23 team points, eighth in the 11-team field. Eastern Oregon claimed the team title with 192.5 points, with their win in the 4x400-relay moving the Mountaineers past British Columbia (192), with College of Idaho (118) third.
Tech had two athletes earn points today in individual events –
Ally Odell recording a personal-best clearance of 1.59 meters (5 feet, 2 ½ inches) in the high jump to take sixth, with Everson recording a career-best time of 1:06.71 in the 400-meter hurdles, placing eighth.
Brady took 13th in the 800-meters (2:20.68), with
Kate Miles recording a season-best mark of 35.68 meters (117-0) in the javelin. Three athletes recorded marks in the shot put – Odell placing tenth (11.07 / 36-4),
Katie Mull taking 13th (10.36 / 34-0) and
Ciena Gregory taking 16th (9.54 / 31-3 ¾).
Following the meet, UBC's Rebecca Dutchak earned Field Athlete of the Meet, with Lewis-Clark State's Madigan Kelly earning Track Athlete of the Meet. EOU's Ben Welch earned Coach of the Year honors, with EOU earning the team sportsmanship award.
