KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Competing in her final collegiate meet,
Katie Mull destroyed her own Oregon Tech hammer throw school record, placing fourth overall on Day 1 of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, a Moehl Stadium.
Hosting the event for the first time in 12 years, the Lady Owls sit in seventh place, scoring 16 points through 11 events. British Columbia (104 points) holds a slim lead on Eastern Oregon (102.5 points) heading into Day 2.
Competing in her own ring, Mull unleashed back-to-back school record throws, with her mark of 48.45 meters (158 feet, 11 inches) – surpassing her previous mark by over two meters (and six feet).
A trio of OIT runners earned points for the team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as
Charis Childers (12:27.35),
Corinne Childers (12:30.98) and
Jane Kuebrich (12:42.17) placed sixth through eighth.
On the track,
Ally Odell took ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.62),
Eva Brady (1:00.52) was 12th and
Lily Everson (1:03.04) was 16th in the 400-meters, with
Rachel Newhard (12:42.39) finishing ninth,
Kira Morrow (13:07.38) was tenth and
McKenzie Morgan (13:25.75) 12th in the steeplechase.
In the throws,
Emily Bitler was tenth in the discus (35.54 meters / 116 feet, 7 inches) and 14th in the hammer (37.75 / 123-10), with
Ciena Gregory 13th (31.65 / 103-10) and
Tarrah Bickford (27.70 / 90-10) 17th in the discus.

3,000-Steeplechase: UBC's Kiana Gibson lapped the entire field, dominating the race in a time of 10:24.91 – a new Moehl Stadium record, defeating College of Idaho's Kylee Quinton (11:35.58) by 71 seconds.
4x100-Relay: UBC anchor Hannah Sobkowich ran down Multnomah's Lillian Guzman following the final exchange, as the T-Birds (46.32) topped the Lions (46.50) in the two fastest times in stadium history.
1,500-Meters: A race featuring three of the Top-10 runners in the NAIA lived up to its billing, as UBC's Abby Ylipahkala (4:34.04) sprinted past C of I's Abbey Shirts (4:34.90) in the final straightaway for the win, with the T-Birds Katelyn Cotterell (4:35.35) a close third.
100-Hurdles: Lewis-Clark State's Madigan Kelly was the class of the field, sprinting to a victory in a facility record time of 14.11 seconds.
400-Meters: Ten athletes broke the one minute barrier, with EOU's Taylor Joyc (56.71) holding off a late charge from LC State's Emily Collins (57.23) for the victory.
10,000-Meters: Indoor national champion Ellyse Tingelstad of College of Idaho lapped the field, easily winning the 25-lap event in a time of 38:20.18. Teammate Molly Connor (40:11.69) was second.
Hammer Throw: A personal best throw of 55.16 meters (180 feet, 11 inches) in the second round of finals led EOU's Kenna Woodward to the win over UBC's Michelle Dadson (54.34 / 178-3).
Pole Vault: UBC's Sonya Urbanowicz, the NAIA's leader in the event, improved her national leading mark with a clearance of 4.01 meters (13 feet, 1.75 inches), well ahead of second-place Katherine Martinez (3.55 / 11-7 ¾) of Southern Oregon.
Discus: Woodward capped a big opening day by completing a double, claiming the discus with a new personal best mark of 40.78 meters (133 feet, 9 inches), two feet ahead of SOU's Ilyhia Greely (40.11 / 131-7).
Long Jump: Finishing under the lights, well after darkness fell, heptathlon champ Rebecca Dutchak of UBC earned a victory with a leap of 5.90 meters (19 feet, 4 ¼ inches).
Day 2 for the women will begin at 11 a.m. with the shot put and high jump.
