Odell Dominates Heptathlon, Lady Owls Win 6 Events at Home

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Ally Odell made the most of the first Oregon Tech home meet in 12 years, running away with the heptathlon title, recording the No. 1 mark in the NAIA this season – one of six victories for the Lady Owls at the OIT Invitational.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Odell picked up wins in all three events on the day – earning victories in the long jump (4.89 meters / 16 feet, ½ inch) and javelin (36.70 meters / 120 feet, 5 inches), before battling a 25 mile-per-hour wind to claim the 800-meters (2:33.75). Her 7-event total of 4,428 points was nearly a 200-point personal best score – and tops in the NAIA by 250 points.

"Fantastic first home meet, so great to compete at home after 12 years," said OIT head coach Mike Anderson. "Our kids performed like a late season meet in March. This should set us up well for April and May."

Eva Brady claimed a victory in the 400-meters, with her time of 1:00.94 meeting the Cascade Conference Meet provisional mark.

Katie Mull was a double winner for Tech, earning victories in both the hammer throw (45.65 meters / 149 feet, 9 inches) and shot put (10.33 meters / 33 feet, 10 ¾ inches).

Other winners for the Lady Owls included Claire Strong in the 100-meters (15.03), with Corinne Childers leading an OIT 1-2-3 finish in the 800-meters (2:32.36).

In addition, Emily Bitler placed fourth in the discus, with her mark of 32.85 meters (107 feet, 9 inches) hitting the CCC provisional.

OIT will take next weekend off, preparing for the first Saturday in April – traveling to the Humboldt Invitational.
