SALEM, Ore. – Recording the tightest gap between their top runners in the 25-team field, the Oregon Tech men's cross country team placed ninth overall at the Charles Bowles Invitational at Bush's Pasture Park.
The Hustlin' Owls No. 1-through-No. 5 runners had a mere 21 second spread, with the Top-7 placed racers separated by just 34 seconds. Tech finished with 318 place-points – with CCC rival College of Idaho (43) claiming the team win – ahead of UC-Irvine (58), Eastern Oregon (111) and Central Washington (114)
"We raced extremely well," said OIT head coach
Mike Anderson. "We defaulted to an aggressive approach and had a fantastic day."
Bryce Worrell led the Tech contingent – one of six Top-100 finishers in the 260-runner field – placing 69th in an 8,000-meter time of 25:43.
Tucker Piper (25:48) finished 81st,
Kai Miles (25:52) took 84th, Toby Ruston (26:01) was 90th and
Braedan Doherty (26:05) finished 95th.
Of the non-scoring runners –
Tychon Preston (26:07) finished 97th, with Max Cox (26:17), Colton Strohmeyer (27:32),
Thomas Long (27:38),
Carson Page (28:30) and
Anil Remedios (31:24) all competing in the event.
Also competing today was the Cascade Conference Elite – post-graduate runners from CCC teams, including former OIT All-Americans
Jonas Hartline and Mark French, with Hartline placing 35th and French in 52nd.
OIT returns to action in two weeks at the George Oja Invite.
