KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Head coach
Jack Kegg announced the recent additions of Jose Ignacio Garcia (Wilsonville, Ore.) and Austin Strawn (Shady Cove, Ore.) to the 2021 Oregon Tech men's track and field squad.
Coach Kegg said, "I am very excited with the quality of these two throwers. They will be a fantastic tandem at the national level pushing each other to attain great things. The competitive nature of both gentlemen should make every outing we go to a great competition. They will challenge each other every day to become more complete throwers."
Jose Ignacio Garcia
Ignacio Garcia is from Wilsonville High School where he was a 1
st Team All-League selection and was a two year varsity letter winner in wrestling, football, and track & field.
"Jose is a great student of the sport and a very hard worker. Jose has big goals; he is very coachable with a plan to accomplish those goals," Kegg said.
He is the son of Jose Edmundo Ignacio Garcia and Maria Elena Garcia Vargas and is an Operations Management major at Oregon Tech.
Austin Strawn
Strawn was a standout at Eagle Point High School where he finished first in the javelin throw at the 5A Oregon State Championships in 2018 and 2
nd in 2019.
"Austin has had great success at the high school level, demonstrating his natural throwing ability and raw strength as the Oregon 5A runner-up in 2019 and champion in 2018," Kegg mentioned.
Strawn is the son of James and Dawn Strawn and is an accounting major at Oregon Tech.
