MCMINNVILLE, Ore. –
Braedan Doherty and
Eli Stevens hit NAIA "B" qualifying standards and 10 Hustlin' Owl athletes posted Cascade Conference qualifying marks at the Jenn Boyman Invitational, hosted by Linfield University.
Doherty placed second in the morning 3,000-meter steeplechase, recording a time of 9:22.68 – 32-hundredths of a second under the NAIA cut – clocking a new personal best time. In the same race,
Elijah Zavala met the CCC standard with a time of 9:57.38.
Stevens, who ran a personal best time of 16.18 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.84 meters (15 feet, 10 ½ inches), notching the national standard for a third-straight year. The senior also hit the CCC provisional mark in the 400-meters (50.20).
On the track, Tech had a big day in the sprints – as
Thomas Adams recorded the No. 4 mark in OIT history in the 400-meters (48.78) and took fifth in the 200-meters (22.26),
Evan Sneed hit CCC marks in both events (22.44 in the 200, 50.03 in the 400).
In the jumps –
Tate Wyman took sixth in the long jump (6.80 / 22-3 ¾), meeting the CCC standard, as did
Logan Shurts in the pole vault (4.24 / 13-11) and
Hadyn Burk in the triple jump (12.31 / 40-4 ¾).
Tech had quality marks in the throws, as
Hunter Enick posted CCC marks in the hammer throw (46.03 / 151-0) and shot put (13.21 / 43-4 ½), with
Jacob Janeczko hitting the provisional in the shot put (12.47 / 40-11) and
Zachary Hart launched a season-best mark in the shot (14.38 / 47-2 ¼).
The Owls return to the track in two weeks – competing in Ashland at the CCC Multi-Event Championships and the Raider Invite.
