Oregon Tech Men’s Soccer Ends Road Trip with Draw

MERCED, Calif. – The Oregon Tech men's soccer team ended its three game, four-day road trip with 0-0 tie on Bobcat Field Monday afternoon. The Owls move to 0-2-1 on the year with No. 23 UC Merced going to 2-2-1 with today's result.

"Today we played a good team in UC Merced," said Head Coach Matt Munhall. "We were a little under fire in the first half, but made it through the first 45 minutes without conceding a goal. We made a few adjustments at halftime that helped us be more successful on both sides of the ball. Both teams had their opportunities throughout the contest, but neither one was able to find the back of the net. I am proud of the effort put forth by our guys and the lessons we learned over the long three game weekend. We have one more contest before the start of conference play that will be big for us to get a result in."

OIT Keeper Gerardo Skewes played well between the pipes as he surrendered no goals with 4-saves.

The Tech offense did manage to get off 13-shots with seven being on frame. The Tech defense surrendered 16-shots with seven on frame as well for the Bobcats.

Up next: The Oregon Tech men will look for their first win this Saturday, September 9 in their home opener at 1:30 pm against Sierra Nevada College at the OIT Soccer Field. The Hustlin' Owls will then play their Alumni Game on Sunday also at 1:30 pm.
