OIT Softball Announces Freshmen Recruiting Class

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech softball coach Greg Stewart has announced the signing of seven freshmen student-athletes to Cascade Conference Letters of Intent for the 2027 season.

Coming off a 43-10 season, a fifth-straight CCC regular-season title and 12th-straight trip to the NAIA Championships, the Lady Owls must replace nine senior student-athletes from their league title squad.

"We are excited to announce this top-notch class of freshman who have the ability to make a significant impact next year," Stewart said. "This group of talented students-athletes will be a big part of the future of our program's success on the field, in the classroom, and in the community over the next four years. These ladies are very athletic in the field and bring a mix of power, speed, and ability to hit for a high average at the plate. I am so thankful they chose to continue their academic and softball careers here at Oregon Tech."

Six of the seven athletes are from Oregon, with the group consisting of four middle infielders, a first baseman and a pair of catchers from their prep days – but each have the ability to play multiple positions at OIT.

All-State catchers Maddie Seavert and Joey Sizemore will be in the mix for playing time from the moment they step on campus.

Seavert, from La Grande High, had a phenomenal senior season, hitting .556 with 10 home runs, helped her squad to the 2025 4A state semifinals. The younger sister of former Tech All-American, Jayce Seavert, is a 3-time All Greater Oregon League and 3-time 4A All-State selection.

"Maddie is a true utility who I can see playing many roles for our program in the future, Stewart said. "She has excelled as a talented catcher and shortstop and has the athleticism to play many other positions on the field.  She is fast on the bases and her ability to hit for a high average and power make her a tough out."

Joey Sizemore

Sizemore, from Clatskanie, has posted a record-setting prep career, hitting a combined .619 with 35 home runs, 192 hits and drawn 100 walks – each among the Top-10 in Oregon high school history. This year, she earned her second-straight Special District 1 Player of the Year honor, hitting .594 with 49 RBI – with the standout a 4-time All-District and 4-Time 2A All-State selection.

"Joey is a tremendous catcher who is also a great athlete that could help us both in the infield or outfield," Stewart remarked. "When teams are not pitching around her, she has proven that she has the ability to change the game with one swing and we look for Joey to be a true difference maker at the plate. She possesses elite power to all fields and has a plus arm and terrific instincts behind the plate."
