Eli Stevens Named CCC Athlete of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon Tech's Eli Stevens was honored as the McDonald's-Urban Edge Network Cascade Conference Track & Field Field Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office.

The senior, from Medford, claimed the decathlon title at the CCC Multi-Event Championships with a new career-best score of 6,684 points - the No. 6 mark in the NAIA this season. His 10 points from the event will jump start the Owls in three weeks at the CCC Championships in La Grande.

Stevens, who ran personal-best times in both the 110-meter hurdles (11.11) and the 400-meters (49.87), excelled in the field events - winning both this discus (41.29 meters) and pole vault with personal best marks. The clearance of 4.90 meters in the vault hit the NAIA automatic qualifying standard and was the top mark in the CCC this season.

OIT heads to Salem this weekend, competing in the Berney Classic, hosted by Corban.
