CORVALLIS, Ore. – Competing in his first collegiate meet, Oregon Tech's
Nolan Sieben became the tenth Hustlin' Owls to surpass the 200-foot mark in the javelin, highlighting the final day of the PNW Invitational at the Whyte Track & Field Center.
The freshman, from Henley High, hit the NAIA provisional qualifying standard with his mark of 61.08 meters (200 feet, 4 inches), placing fourth overall among 28 competitors.
The Owls received quality marks throughout the day, as five athletes added Cascade Conference qualifying marks to their ledger.
In the field events –
Logan Shurts hit the CCC standard in the long jump (6.37 meters / 20 feet, 10 ¾ inches), with Zach Hart hitting the mark in the shot put (12.56 / 41-2 ¼).
On the track, Tech had two CCC qualifiers in the 110-meter hurdles – as
Jason Dickerson (16.16) and
Tate Wyman (16.17) led the way, as did
Thomas Adams in the 400-meters (49.96). In the invitational portion of the 800-meters,
Tucker Piper posted a time of 1:57.88, just missing the CCC standard.
On Monday, OIT multi-event athletes will compete at the Umpqua Multis in Roseburg, with the entire team returning to action the first weekend of April at the Jenn Boyman Invite.
