CORVALLIS, Ore. – Braedan Doherty posted a career-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing third overall, headlining Oregon Tech men's competitors at the outdoor track season opening PNW Invite at the Whyte Track & Field Center.
 
Doherty clocked a time of 9:31.91 – just eight seconds off the NAIA national qualifying standard, with the time the fourth-fastest steeplechase mark in Hustlin' Owls history. The junior, along with freshman Lucas Goodrich (10:07.58) hit the provisional Cascade Conference Championships mark.
 
Tech loaded up in the 400-meter hurdles – with all four athletes in the event hitting the CCC standard. Evan Sneed (56.60) placed sixth overall to pace the Owls, with Jason Dickerson (57.04), Ewan O'Dea (59.49) and Ryan Doherty (1:00.60) each hitting the league mark.
 
The Owls got an outstanding run from freshman Thomas Adams in the 200-meters (22.22), as the No. 5 mark in OIT history hitting the CCC cut, with Kai Miles also hitting the conference standard in the 5,000-meters (15:01.20).
 
Two others hit the league provisional standard – Jacob Janeczko in the discus (38.58 meters / 126 feet, 7 inches) and Logan Shurts in the high jump (1.80 / 5-10 ¾).
