Eli Stevens used three personal best marks to post his highest Day 1 heptathlon score in his collegiate career, highlighting the opening day of the Wolfpack Multi and Invitational inside the Reno Events Center.
The senior recorded a 4-event score of 2,717 points – nearly 200 points better than his previous opening day mark.
Stevens opened with a career-best time of 7.28 seconds in the 60-meters and following a long jump of 6.23 meters (20 feet, 5 ¼ inches), recorded PR's of 12.59 meters (41-3 ½) in the shot put and 1.83 meters (6-0) in the high jump.
Bud Patzke had a quality day, scoring 2,493 points – including a PR in the 60-meters (7.26), while recording marks of 5.87 meters (19-3) in the long jump, 10.49 meters (34-5) in the shot put and 1.80 meters (5-10 ¾) in the high jump.
Also competing for Tech was
Bryson Teal, ending Day 1 with 1,974 points. Teal recorded marks of 7.52 in the 60-meters, 5.40 meters (17-8) in the long jump, 8.12 meters (26-7) in the shot put and 1.56 meters (5-1 ¾) in the high jump.
Day 2 begins at 10 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles, followed by the pole vault and the 1,000-meters.
