FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Three personal best marks from
Eli Stevens helped the Oregon Tech junior to the highest Day 1 decathlon score in his career, as the Owls competed at the Pacific Multi-Event Meet at Hanson Stadium.
Stevens recorded two Top-3 finishes in the 20-athlete field – while establishing personal best marks in the 100-meters (11.22 seconds), the high jump (1.82 meters | 5 feet, 11 ½ inches) and the 400-meters (50.17) – ending the day with 3,546 points, 203 points ahead of his previous best.
A win in the 400-meters capped the big day, with a second-place effort in the long jump (6.53 m | 21-5 ¼) driving the point total. Stevens threw the shot put 11.54 meters (37-10 ½).
On the women's side, freshman Madi Perkins recorded 1,254 points in the heptathlon. Perkins recorded personal best times of 19.08 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 29.76 seconds in the 200-meters, while throwing the shot put 7.57 meters (24-10).
