EUGENE, Ore. –
Ryan Doherty hit the Cascade Conference Championship qualifying mark in the 400-meters, one of four Oregon Tech athletes to record personal best times in the event, as the Hustlin' Owls opened the outdoor season at the Lane CC Open.
Competing in tough conditions throughout the day, Tech got solid marks across the board in their first outdoor meet of the season.
Doherty clocked a time of 50.31 seconds in his circuit of the track, just under the league qualifying minimum. Teammates
Joseph Byers (52.60),
Hadyn Burk (54.22) and
Micah Baird (55.76) all surpassed their previous best times in the 400.
In the 5,000-meters, Toby Ruston (15:22) and
Kai Miles (15:31) clocked quality early season times, despite the conditions, with
Tate Wyman clocking a personal best time of 16.07 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Tech returns to the track in two weeks at the Humboldt Invite.
