Three Owls Named CCC Players of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Three Oregon Tech athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week for their performances during the period of October 4 – October 10.  Jake Mitchell was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, Kaylin Talonen was named Volleyball Attacker of the Week, with teammate Courtney Isom picking up Volleyball Setter of the Week honors the conference office announced today.
 
Mitchell, a junior midfielder/forward from Temecula, Calif., had a hand in half of the Hustlin' Owls' 10 goals over the weekend. He scored three goals and assisted two others to help OIT move into first place in the CCC standings. Mitchell scored a goal in Oregon Tech's 3-0 win over Carroll College and then scored twice and had two assists in the Owls' 7-0 victory over Walla Walla University.
 
Talonen, a junior outside hitter from Reno, Nev., helped the Owls post a 3-0 week, with a clean sweep for the season over Southern Oregon University for the first time in 16 years. Talonen had 43 kills over the three matches and hit for a combined .305 hitting percentage to lead the Owl offense. She averaged 3.31 kills per set and also had nine digs and one block defensively.
 
Isom, a junior setter from Brownsville, Ore., helped fuel the Owl offense that went 3-0 on the week. She had 92 assists, five aces, 7 kills and 27 digs as the setter leading the charge for the Owls. Isom finished the week averaging 7.67 assists per set, as well as 2.25 digs per set.
