LAST SEASON: Both track teams turned the corner at the Cascade Conference Championships – as the women's team recorded their best team finish since 2017, placing fourth, while the men's team placed eighth (hampered by a pair of key injuries). Three athletes earned trips to the NAIA Championships – with two of the three (
Aurora Atwood,
Eli Stevens) both returning in 2026. In all, 64 student-athletes will compete in an OIT uniform this season.
Â
MEN'S PREVIEW: The Hustlin' Owls will have a deep team that has the ability to score at the CCC Championships. The squad is anchored by senior
Eli Stevens, a 4-time NAIA National Championship qualifier – competing last season in the decathlon (6,668 points) and pole vault (4.85 meters) – and will be among the favorites among CCC competitors this year in both events. Also back are two all-conference athletes –
Ryan Doherty in the 400-meter hurdles (55.45) and
Tate Wyman in the long jump, who also scored points in the 100-meter hurdles (15.75). Key returners include
Braedan Doherty and
Bryce Worrell in the 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Tucker Piper in the middle distances,
Kai Miles in the distance events and
Logan Shurts in both the jumps and pole vault. Tech is excited for their newcomers – as throwers
Zachary Hart,
Jacob Janeczko and
Nolan Sieben should make immediate impacts – Hart had marks of 57-feet in the shot put and 153-feet in the discus at Lassen High, Janeczko having college experience at Southwestern Oregon CC, with Sieben throwing the javelin 198-feet at Henley High. The hurdle crew will be key – as both
Ewan O'Dea and
Evan Sneed will race in the 400-meter hurdles, while Torrey Pines High grad
Jason Dickerson clocked a 110-meter hurdle time of 15.21 last spring. Corvallis High product
Thomas Adams has a personal best 400-meter time of 48.51, while the both
Elijah Zavala and
Ethan Krieger look to build off a solid cross country season to give the Owls depth in the distance events.
Â
WOMEN'S PREVIEW: The Lady Owls depth will be the key in 2026, as the squad looks to have a team that can hit a CCC qualifying mark in every event. The throws will anchor the team, led by CCC champion, Aurora (Parsons) Atwood, who won the league crown in the discus (42.42 meters), taking second in the shot put (12.98 meters) and third in the javelin (41.11 meters). Both
Emily Bitler and
Ciena Gregory have scored at the CCC meet in the discus, with
Kate Miles a 2-time CCC qualifier in the javelin. Joining the throws group are three high school all-stars –
Caitlyn Horrell of Burns,
Amina Redfield of Wilsonville and
Kalina Saechao of Cascade. Horrell has top marks of 132-10 in the discus and 39-1 in the shot; Redfield is the 5A champ in the javelin (146-10) and has thrown the shot 36-10; while Saechao is the 4A champ in the shot put (43-11) and has thrown the discus 128-3. The sprints will be deep, with senior
Sydney Soskis (12.54 in the 100-meters, 25.53 in the 200-meters) and sophomore
McKenna Donovan (12.38 in the 100-meters, 25.68 in the 200-meters) looking to build of tremendous 2025 seasons, with the duo joined by Vacaville High product
Ruby Ford, who posted times of 13.10 seconds, 26.05 seconds and 59.34 seconds in the 100-200-400 events. Both Donovan and Soskis will compete in the long jump, joined by freshman
Maevri Bergerson of Astoria, who has surpassed 36 feet in the triple jump. Look for sub 60-second 400-meter runners
Tiffany Humpherys and
Ava Blatchford to be key, while the duo of
Lily Everson and
Madi Perkins will compete in the multi-events (Everson also running in the 400-meter hurdles). In the distance events, cross country national qualifier
Saundra Parsons leads the group, while seniors
Charis Childers,
Corinne Childers,
Chloe Crawford and
Raleena Maxson will provide key depth in both the steeplechase and distance events.
