Lady Owls Earn At-Large Bid to NAIA Volleyball Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The season is not over for the Oregon Tech volleyball team, as the Lady Owls were one of 14 at-large selections to the 48-team NAIA Volleyball National Championships.

Tech will be making their second appearance in the tournament in program history and will travel to Dillon, Mont., on Saturday for a match-up at Montana Western.

In 2021, OIT hosted an Opening Round match – defeating Westmont, to advance to the tournament final site in Sioux City, Iowa. This year, the Lady Owls will have to accomplish the feat on the road.

The Bulldogs (22-9) finished third in the Frontier Conference regular-season standings, paced by outside hitter Jazi Smith (3.27 k/s, 4.04 d/s)

The Lady Owls (19-13) began the season with a 7-1 non-conference record – including a win over GSAC champ, The Masters. After a tough start to league play, OIT finished the season with a 12-6 mark over their final 18 matches. The NAIA Tournament has extended the playing careers for four seniors – Molly Grace, Kate Hicks, Paige Tevelde and Kennedy Kantola.

OIT is one of six Cascade Conference teams in the tournament – the most of any conference. Four teams – Eastern Oregon, Southern Oregon, Corban and College of Idaho – are hosting Opening Round contests, while Bushnell will join Tech in the Treasure State, traveling to Montana Tech.
