#1 Lady Owls Bounce Back to Defeat Menlo

ROCKLIN, CA – The #1 ranked Lady Owls (1-1) bounced back from a loss earlier in the day to defeat Menlo College (0-2) on Friday afternoon. Oregon Tech got a strong outing from McKenzie Staub, who picked up her first win of the season in the circle. The Lady Owls also got a huge day at the plate from Aubrie Businger who went a perfect 3-for-3.

Following the Friday doubleheader, HC Greg Stewart said: "Our team battled today and bounced back from a tough game one loss. We did not swing it like we are capable of from top to bottom in the lineup. We had some chances but did not deliver key two outs hits in our first game. I look forward to our ladies getting better tomorrow."

#1 Oregon Tech 7 Menlo College 2

Looking to bounce back off a defeat earlier in the day, Tech made the most of their opportunities with runners on base to knock off Menlo.

Designated as the home side in Friday's tilt, the Lady Owls grabbed two runs in the second and three in the third to cruise out to an early 5-0 lead.

The Lady Owls hot start was spurred by three consecutive RBI doubles from Kennedy Jantzi, Krista Ward, and Aubrie Businger in the third inning.

Menlo would grab two in the top of the 5th, but Tech responded with two of their own to put the game on ice.

The Lady Owls would close out the final two frames for a 7-2 victory, their first of the season.

McKenzie Staub threw well in her 2022 debut, going six strong, allowing only two runs on five hits.

Kacie Schmidt saw her first action of the year when she came on in relief for Staub to close out the contest.

Schmidt threw a scoreless seventh, allowing no runs on one hit, one walk, with one strikeout.

The Lady Owls were led at the plate by Aubrie Businger, who went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Menlo was led at the plate by Rodne, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Tech will return to action tomorrow, where they'll face Menlo at 10am before getting a chance to avenge their loss over Jessup at noon.
